We offer SAT Jr. Program for 7-9th graders who want to build their SAT skills. This class helps high-achieving 7-8th graders prepare for the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) Talent Search, while allowing 9th graders to get ahead on preparing for the SAT.
Johns Hopkins University's Center for Talented Youth (CTY) sponsors a yearly program to identify gifted 7th and 8th grade students, the CTY Talent Search. Seventh and 8th grade students can qualify for the first level of the CTY Talent Search by achieving over 550 and 600, respectively, on the math or critical reading sections of the SAT reasoning test. Johns Hopkins recognizes qualifying students with certificates and access to many of the CTY's summer enrichment programs.
In addition, exceptional students can qualify for the second level of the talent search and become part of the Study of Exceptional Talent (SET). This program is far more impressive than the standard CTY because it requires students to score at least 700 on the math or critical reading sections of the SAT. Qualifying for the SET is very prestigious and is highly recognized by top universities.
While preparing for the test, students build their vocabulary, develop reading comprehension skills, enhance their critical thinking abilities, and tackle high school level math concepts.
